Economic Development Team Overview

Economic Development Team Overview

One-time cradle of the industrial revolution, today's St.Helens is an innovative and enterprising place that has undergone a successful post-industrial renaissance as the "Heart of the North West" - a regionally significant location of choice for investors, residents and visitors alike.

This ongoing transformation of our business base, culture, infrastructure and image is founded on clear vision, a focus on delivery, and working closely with the private sector and other partners in order to maximise our prime, cost effective location, connectivity and catchment midway between Liverpool and Manchester.

In 2009 we were designated a Beacon Council for “Delivering Economic Prosperity through Partnership”.

The Council’s Economic Development Team is a sub-division of the Urban Regeneration & Housing Department, and comprises the following core functions:

·          Economic Performance & Strategy

·          External Funding, Projects & Programmes

·          Employment & Skills

·          Business Location & Aftercare

 ·          Rural Economy & Sector Development

 ·          Tourism & Town Centre Development

·          Placeshaping, Public Art & Destination Marketing
